🧺 THE place to be on Wednesdays

A dog social club, jazz in a dome, & natty wine in Topanga

Sweet, sweet local tourist. How was your weekend? Did you discover a new place? Get into a lil trouble? I wanna hear all about it! Feel free to share what you got up to this weekend in our community group chat

I went to Slammers Cafe to check out Courtney Storer's (former CDC at Jon & Vinny's and culinary producer of FX's The Bear) new pop-up Coco's, which is centered around her Italian ice (yum). The patio at Slammers is giving backyard vibes and something I will be frequenting more in the very near future.

Okay, let's get to the going.

πŸ—“οΈ THINGS TO DO πŸ—“️

  • It's a Watermelon Week at Everson Royce Bar to celebrate the last week of summer. It's gonna be hot AF, so cool off with some limited-edition watermelon cocktails from 8/30 - 9/4.

  • 🍷 Highly Likely is hosting a wine tasting and discussion night on Monday 8/29 with sommelier Tinashe Nyumudoka. The event is sponsored by South LA Wine Club, which is a community of wine enthusiasts in South LA and Inglewood. I'm so into this.

  • 🐢 Um, have you guys heard of Dog Ppl? It's a dog social club that has a park, cafe, and lounge space in Santa Monica. It's like Soho House, but for dogs and their people lol.

  • ✨ On Tuesday 8/30, Rapido is putting on Tuesday Tastes, which is a sipping and snacking social. Bites from Bar Moruno and natty wine tastings!

  • 🧺 Wednesdays at Penmar!! Guys, it seems like everyone has been going to the Sunset Sessions that Penmar hosts on Wednesdays. People bring picnic blankets & chairs to hang out on the golf course and listen to live music. And you can bring dogs!!

  • 🍽️ On Thursday 9/1, the L.A. Times Food Bowl 2022 is having a launch party at Grandmaster Recorders. It's a fancy shmancy event (that I'll be at!) with chefs from Petit Trois, Anajak Thai, Kato, and more.

  • πŸ’› My friends at Ritual are having a Vitamin Mixer on Friday 9/2 from 4-7 PM at their store on Abbot Kinney. What's a Vitamin Mixer you may ask? Well, it's where you swap your current multi and receive a 30 day supply of Ritual for just $2. Oh, and there will be drinks from my beverage crushes: Ghia & Bev.

  • 🎡 Want to listen to jazz in this dome? On Sunday 9/4, there are two jazz concerts at the Mount Wilson Observatory. This is a good one to take your parents to.

  • 🧘 Wanna do yoga in Echo Park? Nic and Lu host yoga sessions every Sunday. I would head over to the new Canyon Coffee afterwards.

πŸ“PLACES TO BEπŸ“

Jurassic Magic

Mid City

I found a new joy trigger for me in Mid City: Jurassic Magic.

This coffee house is simply the cutest. There are fun, little trinkets around the store and a little book cave in the back. Obviously the coffee is fab, and the staff is beyond friendly. Check 'em out the next time you're in the neighborhood!

Endless Color

Topanga

Alright, if you're doing a Malibu day any time soon, bake in some time to visit Endless Color in Topanga.

They offer 2 of the world's delicacies: pizza and natural wine. (Are you surprised that I recommended this place?) There's also a vinyl store inside amongst the whimsical decor. This place rocks.

The Ripped Bodice

Culver City

To all those on #booktok, this one's for you.

The Ripped Bodice is the only exclusively romance bookstore on the West Coast (so cool). This place is an oasis for me, and I find myself roaming around the little store for hours. They host a ton of book clubs and events as well.

Lemme know what you've been reading lately!
