Mads here! Bagels from other parts of the country have been opening locations in LA lately (I’m looking at you Boichik form SF and H&H Bagels from NY). So I thought it was as good a time as any to pass along an updated “spots that make LA a bagel city” list:

• Belle’s Bagels, Highland Park  🥯 Recently transformed from a bagel window to a full day-to-night deli. I don’t mean to get political, but this is my favorite bagel in LA.

• Layla Bagels, Santa Monica & Beverly Hills 🍊 Viral sourdough bagels with inventive toppings like blood orange and honey.

• Hank’s, Sherman Oaks & Burbank 🤤 THE bagel of the Valley.

• Maury’s, Silver Lake 🗽 The quintessential neighborhood bagel shop serving up NY-style bagels.

• Jyan Isaac, Santa Monica 🥯 People sleep on Jyan Isaac’s bagels. The double-sided everything bagel is, well, everything.

• Courage Bagels, Virgil Village 🍅 I mean what’s a “bagels in LA” list without Courage? Montreal-style bagels with toppings like salmon roe & juicy tomatoes.

• Wake & Late, DTLA, Hollywood, & Pasadena 🧈 The best rip & dip bagels. Get the honeycomb butter.

• Pop-up honorable mentions: Mustard’s Bagels, Hot Water Bagels, & Ben’s Bagels.

• West 3rd, All week ☕️ Woah Uncle Paulie’s on West 3rd now serves coffee!! And the first 50 coffees are free?!

• Larchmont, All week 🍵 Suá Superette & T3 Micro have collabed to create the Aire Matcha (looks delish). Oh, and all drink proceeds will go to the World Central Kitchen, providing meals to the first responders who helped to fight the Los Angeles wildfires. Drink up and give back!

• Cypress Park, Tuesday 2/25 🐟 Everyone’s favorite tinned fish company, Fishwife, has a new cookbook! And you’re invited to their launch party at Barra Santos on Tuesday.

• TBD, Wednesday 2/26 ♟️ Jewish? Single? Like to play chess? Jewish Women of Los Angeles & LA Chess Club have teamed up to put on this Jewish singles chess night.

• West Hollywood, Wednesday 2/26 🏺 Solo date idea: a ceramics workshop at Zinque.

• Venice, Wednesday 2/26 🎺 Fun midweek date night idea: live jazz at Gran Blanco. $4 off wines by the glass!

• Atwater Village, Wednesday 2/26 😆 It’s a big comedy fundraising show at Nico’s! All proceeds will go to black families displaced by the fires.

• Hollywood, Sunday 3/2 🌹 Well, this is glamorous! It’s The Hollywood Roosevelt's Oscars Viewing Gala. Watch the ceremony in the iconic ballroom where Hollywood legends first gathered for the Academy Awards in 1929, just half a block away from the live Oscars ceremony.
