Mads here! We’ve entered the last 2 weeks of the year where no one knows what day or time it is. So apologies that the “things to do” list this week is a bit shorter. Use this time to go to restaurants you’ve had a hard time getting into or drive to Malibu without traffic 🌊

It’s also the last newsletter of 2023! (Don’t worry, I’ll be posting NYE round-ups on Instagram & TikTok, so be sure to follow us there). Because we’re closing out the year, I wanna share some of my favorite places in LA that I visited (new and old):

• Le Great Outdoor, Santa Monica 🥬 One of my favorite meals of 2023. Feels like you’re having dinner in a friend’s backyard.

• Joy, Highland Park 🍽️ I can’t believe I was so late to the Joy game. Exceeds the hype.

• La Dolce Vita, Beverly Hills 🍸 A recent fave for bucatini and a martini in a classic red booth setting. Here’s a sneak peek into the holiday party we hosted there with Resy.

• Barra Santos, Cypress Park 🍷 The cool kids tapas bar.

• Loreto, Frogtown 🐟 That ceviche and patio. Drool.

• Bar Monette, Santa Monica 🍕 My go-to date night rec in Santa Monica.

• Palm Grove Social, Mid City 🍵 Cute patio and coffee shop that’s always hosting markets.

• Community Goods, West Hollywood 💛 Duh.

• Silver Springs, West Hollywood 🧘 My favorite new hot yoga / pilates studio.

• Motoring Coffee, Santa Monica 🍵 The coffee shop that took TikTok by storm.

• Open, Venice 🧘 You guys know I’m an Open stan. If you haven’t treated yourself to a yoga or breathwork class there, what are you doing?! Get a free class here.

• File Systems of Coffee, Larchmont 🍵 Underrated and neighborhoodly coffee shop near Larchmont.

• Bar Next Door, West Hollywood 🍸 One of the best cocktail bars I went to this year.

• Anajak Thai, Sherman Oaks 🍲 Finally visited Anajak Thai and (no surprise here) loved it.

• Di Di, West Hollywood 🍽️ Tway da bae did good.

• Gingergrass Mini Mart, East Hollywood 🍜The best grab-and-go spot.

• Cafe Telegrama, Melrose Hill 🍵 The most aesthetic place to open in 2023.

• Le Champ, DTLA 🍷 My favorite natty wine patio and french fries of the year!

• DTLA, Thursday 12/21 🕯️ This is so precious: a candle-lit night of life figure drawing at Fig & Oak. Oh, and there will be champagne and caviar.

• Highland Park, Thursday 12/21 🎨 Tap into your creativity at The Creative Cafe on Thursday. Just like dining out, you select from a menu, but instead of ordering food, you’ll choose from a selection of creative activities. Also, they’ll have an in-house Mini Holiday Market there, too!

• DTLA, Friday 12/22 🎄 Still need a garland? Make one at ROW DTLA.

• Silver Lake, Friday 12/22 🎁 Shop for the rest of the gifts on your list at this market.

• DTLA, Friday 12/22 & Saturday 12/23 🎠 You’re gonna wanna go to this: the world’s first art amusement park — lost since 1987. At Luna Luna, you’ll see a collection of rides and relics crafted by the world’s foremost contemporary artists, including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, David Hockney, and many more.

• Altadena, Saturday 12/23 🍔 Yellow Paper Burger is popping up at Side Pie. YUM.

• Dada, Echo Park 🛍️ I’ve been seeing this cute boutique grocery store everywhere because it’s right next door to the newly opened Little Fish.

• Budonoki, Virgil Village 🍣 Finally tried beloved neighborhood izakaya, Budonoki in Virgil Village. Must orders include the aburi salmon oshizushi, negima, charred sweet potato, and “budo-gnocchi.” Oh, and whoever is running the playlist over there deserves a raise.

• Solarc Brewing, Glassell Park 🍻 Beer & tea in a space with wacky fermented art. I gotta check it out!

• Shirube, Santa Monica 🍣 Infatuation LA named this one of the best new restaurants in 2023, so consider it added to my list.

• Deus Ex Machina, Silver Lake 🏍️ Deus Ex Machina soft launched their new store in Silver Lake. If it’s anything like their Venice store, you’re in for a treat.
