• 🍽️ It's Black Restaurant (more than just a) Week! From 8/19 - 8/28, there will be a series of events promoting the Black culinary industry here in LA. You can check out the full list of restaurants participating here.

• 🍷 On Monday 8/22, Mini Kabob is popping up at Voodoo Vin for a night of Armenian food and wine. This is the way you should be spending your Monday evening.

• 🥘 On Thursday 8/25 and Friday 8/26, you can book a space at this intimate dinner series called ILĖ, which is an African culinary art space. Enjoy a West African pre-fixed menu along with curated music. Oh, and it's BYOB.

• 🎉 Lasita is celebrating their one-year anniversary on Saturday 8/27, and they're pulling out all the stops: beer from Homage Brewery, food from Little Fish and Amboy, and more!

• 🌞 We're nearing the end of summer and One Colorado in Pasadena is throwing an afternoon of summer fun on Saturday 8/27. There's gonna be a photo booth, so...

• 🎵 Want to see The Strokes and Phoebe Bridgers this weekend? This Ain't No Picnic is happening Saturday 8/27 and Sunday 8/28. Side note: what a cool name for a music festival.

Hollywood

So, BJ Novak said this was one of his favorite sushi restaurants in LA on this podcast, so naturally, I was intrigued 🍣

Shintaro is an unassuming sushi spot in the dead of Hollywood. I basically ate my body weight in rolls. You can't really go wrong, but my favorites were the Rainbow Roll, Shintaro Roll, and Dragon Eye Roll. 

MEMORYLOOK

Koreatown

When I saw this place on TikTok, I immediately knew it was going to be a home run for me.

MEMORYLOOK is a coffee shop and flagship store that serves Korean coffee drinks. The decor is minimalist, and their outdoor patio is MASSIVE. Oh, and they have a ton of parking.

Get the einspanner latte. You'll thank me later ☕

Palisades Park Rose Garden

Santa Monica

If you're looking for a new walk to do near the beach, might I suggest this loop we did during our latest Walk Club for LA Tech Week this past weekend. 

Start at the Palisades Park Rose Garden on Ocean Avenue. Start walking toward the pier, and you'll see wooden stairs leading to a bridge that crosses the freeway. Once you cross the bridge, head to the path along the beach and continue walking toward the pier. You'll see another bridge on the left that will take you back up to Ocean Ave, and you can make your way back to the rose garden 🌹
