π₯― This bagel made my "top 3 in LA" list
Little Fish birthday, a tennis club, & the Arctic Monkeys are in town
Doordash made this cool AF zine on restaurant culture and community. Their first edition was about Asian cooking in LA, and all the heavy-hitters are featured: Woon, Yangban Society, Pijja Palace, and more. Shoutout to friend of Camber, Kate, for passing this along π
Oh, I was a guest on the Am I Doing This Right? podcast chatting all things Camber and tips on how to re-discover your city. I reveal the 2 things I do when researching where to go in a new city, and they're probably not what you think ποΈ

Okay, let's get to the going.
ποΈ THINGS TO DO ποΈ
πΎ If you just read Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid and want to make tennis your new personality trait, check out Tume Tennis Club. All Mondays, all levels.
π Okay, this is HUGE. On Tuesday 9/13, La Morra (a top 3 pizza in Los Angeles IMO) will be popping up at Woon. You can catch me eating my body weight in 'za there.
π₯ Imagine if a comedian took 5 shots of whiskey and then did improv with sober comedians. Well, you can watch this (hopefully) funny trainwreck at Drunk Theater on Friday 9/16.
π΅ Lorde and Arctic Monkeys are in town!! Primavera Sound is this weekend 9/16 - 9/18 at the LA Historic Park. Let me know if you'll be there, so we can do an IRL meetup!
ποΈ Looking for a free, indoor marketplace to escape the heat this weekend? Junction Market Place is showcasing 25+ female vendors at The LA Art Box on Friday 9/16 and Saturday 9/17. And there will be snacks!
π» Midcity Mercado, the family operated pop-up, is happening this Saturday 9/17. Expect 20+ POC vendors, jams, and micheladas. Oh, and it's free-entry and pet-friendly.
π Happy 2nd birthday to Little Fish! For one day only, you can pre-order a box of their mid-western fish fry classics on Saturday 9/17. This one's gonna go fast.
π Junior High has 2 cool events happening on Sunday 9/18: Swap Pop where you bring a bag of your clothes that you no longer wear to swap with someone else. Also, there's a Valley Girl Comedy show in the evening.
πPLACES TO BEπ
The Lonely Oyster
Echo Park
It's hot AF outside, so summer reigns on.
Which means it's still oyster slurping season! The Lonely Oyster just opened up in Echo Park, and it is the quintessential neighborhood joint. The staff is almost too friendly, and they know their shit when it comes to oysters. Ask for Dillon to give you an oyster history lesson π¦ͺ
Oh, and don't forget the lobster roll trio.
Franklin Canyon Reservoir
Beverly Hills
Did you join our walk club this past Sunday?! If so, it was lovely to meet you IRL. And if not, I wanna see you at the next one!! I post about them on TikTok and in this very newsletter, so you're in the right place.
We walked around the Upper Franklin Canyon Reservoir, which doesn't feel like Los Angeles AT all. It's so peaceful and such a good way to escape the city for a bit. There are longer trails to explore, which can be found here π³
Bagel & Slice
Highland Park
Alright, this has made my top 3 bagel list in LA (the other 2 are Courage Bagels and Belle's Bagels, in case you were wondering) π₯―
I finally visited Bagel + Slice and was wow-ed by their Goldilox bagel sandwich. There was a lemon olive oil drizzle situation that was unlike anything I've ever tasted. Apparently their pizza is also bomb, so I'll need to return to try it out.
π¬ ONE FINAL THING π¬
See ya around,
Mads
